Santa Fe College Remains Open

March 12, 2020, 8:08 a.m. - Santa Fe College is taking the threat of COVID-19 seriously and, is following the recommendations of the CDC, the Florida Department of Health and local emergency management. The college’s emergency management team is meeting regularly like many colleges across the country and is preparing to move instruction online should the situation warrant it.

The college is following recommendations from the Florida College System and remains open at this time.

The college is vigilant in cleaning high touch, high traffic areas. As cases increase and concern grows concerning the spread of COVID-19, Santa Fe College declares that any student, faculty or staff member who traveled to China, South Korea, Italy, Iran or Japan will not be permitted on any SF campus or center, and must self-quarantine for 14 days. Any student, faculty or staff member who has been in close contact with anyone who has traveled to those countries, or is showing potential symptoms of COVID-19 should also self-quarantine.

Administration officials and the SF Emergency Management team have been meeting regularly with the local and state Departments of Health and have been receiving advisories from the . 

As of 11:48 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, the Florida Department of Health is reporting a total of 21 cases of COVID-19 in Florida, including one who is currently being isolated in Alachua County.

The college announced this week that any student, faculty or staff member who traveled to China, South Korea, Italy, Iran or Japan will not be permitted on any SF campus or center, and must self-quarantine for 14 days.

Coronavirus Update – March 10, 2020

March 10, 2020, 4:25 p.m. – The Santa Fe College Emergency Management team is continuing to work with local, state and federal partners to provide the most updated information from the . Although the number of reported cases within the state is increasing, there are no confirmed or presumed positive cases in the Santa Fe College service district of Alachua and Bradford counties.  

Symptoms of COVID-19 

Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed COVID-19 cases. The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure: 

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath 

SF recommends following all to reduce your risk.

SF declares that any student, faculty or staff member who traveled to China, South Korea, Italy, Iran or Japan will not be permitted on any SF campus or center, and must self-quarantine for 14 days.
